Overdraft Protection at First Horizon
We know life can be unpredictable and mistakes can happen. As a result, you may not always have enough money in your checking account to cover a transaction. At First Horizon, we offer solutions to help prevent overdrafts from happening.
There is no transfer fee for overdraft protection provided by deposit, line of credit, or credit card.
Deposit Accounts
You can choose to link another First Horizon consumer checking, savings, or money market account to your consumer checking account. Money is then transferred to your consumer checking account if needed to authorize a transaction. If you currently have accounts linked for overdraft protection, they’ll remain linked.
NOTE: Business account links for overdraft protection on your consumer checking will be discontinued.
Line of Credit
A Line of Credit can be attached to your checking account to cover overdrafts. An application is required, and the amount of your Line of Credit is based on your credit standing. Subject to credit approval.
Credit Card
NEW: You can link your First Horizon credit card to your checking account for overdraft protection.
Standard Overdraft Service/Opt-In, Opt-Out
If you have previously elected for IBERIABANK to authorize and pay ATM and everyday point-of-sale debit card transactions, these will continue after conversion. If not, transactions in excess of your account balance may be declined at the ATM or by a merchant/store when you use your debit card. First Horizon will not charge a fee in these instances.
You can change your Opt-In/Opt-Out election at any time on or after February 22 by visiting a First Horizon banking center, calling 800-382-5465, or going to firsthorizon.com/overdrafts, where you can also learn more about our standard overdraft practices and various overdraft protection plans.
Overdraft and Insufficient Funds Fees
First Horizon will assess a $35.00 fee for each overdraft created by check, in-person withdrawal, recurring debit card payment, or other electronic payments, as well as for each ATM withdrawal and everyday debit card purchase if you have opted in to have these latter items paid for you. If you overdraw your account by $5.00 or less on any one day, there will be no overdraft charge.
You will not be assessed a fee for checks or items drawn on your account that we return due to insufficient funds.

For Current Loan Clients
Your IBERIABANK loans and lines of credit will transition to First Horizon with no changes to the terms of your loan agreement. Your account numbers will remain the same unless you’re notified separately.
